Bude is a small seaside town made popular in Victorian times when the train track arrived. It is the most northern of Cornwall towns. Bude offers a great seaside location to base a holiday with great access to beaches and the coastal scenery is stunning with great walks along some of the highest cliffs in Cornwall. There are a few beaches to choose from which offer good surfing conditions. Summerleaze and Crooklets are within the town and then Widemouth Bay a few miles to the south and the National Trust beach of Sandymouth to the north. The town centre has a good mix of independent shops and a good selection of places to eat. In a sense it has tried to modernise but also kept a lot of charm.
