Explore Salcombe Beaches and Coastline

Salcombe is a popular seaside resort town on the Devon south cost. The town sits mainly on the steep west side of the Kingsbridge estuary and is within the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The town has narrow streets with many small independent shops, places to relax and eat, and art galleries. Pedestrians have priority and a park and ride scheme operates during the summer from the outskirts of Salcombe. Although Salcombe has two sandy beaches (North and South sands) you also have the option to hop on the ferry and visit Mill Bay beach on the east side of the estuary. The harbour is very active mainly with leisure boats but it does have a shell fishing fleet. The estuary has a sand bar which prevents large vessels entering and this creates a relatively sheltered body of water upon which a wide variety of water pursuits take place, including stand up paddleboarding (SUP), kayaking, yacht and dinghy sailing.
