Explore Lyme Regis Beaches and Coastline

Lyme Regis a seaside town in West Dorset. Sitting within Lyme Bay, on the English Channel coast at the Dorset Devon border. You may well recognise the harbour wall, known as "The Cobb", as it features in The French Lieutenant's Woman and Jane Austen's novel Persuasion. On a more practical level the Cobb has been around since the early 1300's in some form and has been of economic importance to the town and surrounding area, creating an artificial harbour. You have four local beaches to the town but access to many more along the coast: The Town Beach, Church Cliff Beach, East Cliff Beach and Monmouth Beach. The coast nearby is subject to large landslips, this means Lyme Regis is recognised for the fossils found in the cliffs and beaches, which are part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site.
