Explore Weymouth Beaches and Coastline
Weymouth is a seaside town in Dorset, located on the western shore of Weymouth Bay and on the mouth of the River Wey. Weymouth's coast and beaches, lakes, museums, aquarium, shopping centres and watersports attract visitors all year round. Two notable landmarks around Weymouth are:
- The small limestone Isle of Portland is only 6 km (4 miles) long and 2.7 km (1.7 miles) wide and it is joined to the mainland by Chesil Beach.
- Chesil Bank Beach a major shingle bank which provides shelter from the prevailing winds and waves for the town of Weymouth.
