Explore Skegness (Lincolnshire) Coast and Beaches

Skegness is a popular seaside town on the North Sea Lincolnshire coast and often referred to as "Skeggy". Like many seaside towns it was the arrival of the railway in 1875 that started to bring visitors and move it away from being just a small fishing port to a large seaside town. The town was the site of the UK's first holiday camp, started by Billy Butlin in 1936 and the holiday park still exists today. The seafront still hosts a pier but due to damage over the years it is now just a platform and half it's original length. The town offers selection of shops, theatre, fairground rides, amusement arcades, novelty outlets, a crazy golf course, fish and chip shops and other takeaways, and bars.
