Explore Portishead (Somerset) Coast and Beaches

Portishead is on the North Somerset coast within the Severn Estuary with views over towards the South Wales coastline. Portishead is a port town and its name comes from the "port at the head of the river". The port has now been redeveloped as a marina and the town itself has blended in with Bristol and this makes the beach one of the easiest to reach from Bristol. Although a lot of the area is built up the town is surrounded by great countryside for walkers including Gordano Valley Nature Reserve, Battery Point and the Clevedon Coast Path.
