Barry Island (Vale of Glamorgan) Beaches, Seaside and Coast

Barry Island is peninsula and seaside resort on the Vale of Glamorgan coast in South Wales. Until the 1880s Barry was an island, but the continued expansion of the area meant that the Barry Docks bridged the link between mainland and island, forming a peninsula.

Barry’s coastline, which is on the Bristol Channel, has the world’s second highest tidal range, reaching up to 15 metres!

Barry is now an ideal place for a fun, family day out. Centred around the sandy shores of Whitmore Bay you'll find an amusement park, gardens, a promenade and very many gift shops, cafes and pubs.

We have more beaches, accommodation and things to do listed under our Barry page.
