The Millmount Museum and Martello Tower are located on the fort on an ancient hill overlooking the river Boyne. The fort towers over the town of Drogheda, County Louth and is Drogheda’s most dominant feature, clearly visible from most parts of the town. The Kildemock Jumping Church ruins date back to the 14th century, though the site also contains carved stones from the 13th century. According to legend, the west gable of the building jumped two feet inside the wall of the original foundation to exclude an excommunicated church member who had been buried in the church. Read more…
