Carbis Bay is a sandy beach located in St Ives Bay and a resort in its own right.
The beach has very safe bathing due to the sheltered aspect and calm sea.
The beach is part of a resort and has facilities, although a small car park with a cheaper option either at the station or the long-stay a little up the road, although a steep hilly walk. Like most St Ives beaches it is best to park outside at St Erth station and catch the train in and Carbis Bay has a stop just behind the beach or you can take a walk along the coast path from St Ives.
If you want to get away from people and are not bothered about facilities then you can take the 10-minute walk along the coast path to Porth Kidney beach.
The beach has seasonal lifeguards and options to rent canoes and SUPs.
Carbis Bay Beach is a Blue Flag Beach and has been awarded a regional Seaside Award.
Carbis Bay beach has seasonal dog restrictions not allowing dogs from 15 May and 30 September between 10 am - 6 pm
Water samples are taken at regular intervals during the bathing season and at the end of the season the water quality is classified as: - Excellent: the highest classification meaning the water is cleanest - Good: generally good water quality - Sufficient: meets minimum standards - Poor: You are advised not to swim. The beach will stay open and an action plan should be in place to improve the water quality.
