The Hidden Hut (Cornwall)
- Information
You don’t need to spend ages figuring out why this cafe is called The Hidden Hut as it is a wooden hut next to Porthcurnick beach, which is itself an isolated beach.
The cafe has a varied menu but has beautifully cooked food on an outdoor stove or in the indoor bakery oven.
Note that as this is remote it has no telephone line or mobile signal and so no need to book just come and enjoy!

The beach is managed by the National Trust and is located at the end of a narrow lane with no parking, it is advised to park in the New Road, Portscatho car park and take the coast path. This stretch of Roseland Peninsula coast is worth exploring with Portscatho around St Anthony Headland to the west, or to the east you have Carne and Pendower beaches. The beach has The Hidden Hut cafe and a slipway although if you have a boat beware of the narrow single track lane access.
- Portscatho is a small fishing village with mainly a pebble beach and the odd sandy patch. Facilities include car park, toilets, shop, pub and slipway.

- Saint Mawes Castle is among the best-preserved of Henry VIII’s coastal artillery fortresses. The castle was one of the chain of forts built between 1539 and 1545 to counter an invasion threat from Catholic France and Spain, it guarded the important anchorage of Carrick Roads, sharing the task with Pendennis Castle on the other side of the Fal estuary.
- Kiberick Cove a small sandy cove on the Roseland Peninsula. Popular for fishing. No facilities and access on foot.
- Great Molunan beach is a small cove with a sandy beach. Popular with boating families as Great Molunan beach overlooks the entrance to Falmouth harbour.
