Seal Sands Beach (Durham)

    Seal Sands is an inter-tidal mudflat situated in the mouth of the River Tees halfway between Hartlepool and Redcar. Seal Sands forms one part of the Teesmouth National Nature Reserve a biological Site of Special Scientific Interest, the other being North Gare Sands.

    This is an area of mud and sand and is a great place for spotting seals and bird watching.

    An easy-access footpath connects the Cowpen Marsh car park with two wheelchair accessible hides overlooking Seal Sands.
