Blast Beach (Durham)

Blast beach was once hidden deep below waste from Dawdon Colliery which was one of the last Durham mines to close. After a clean-up you now have a spectacular stretch of coastline with empty beaches, high cliffs and wild flowers.

This is a great location to head out and explore Durham’s Heritage Coast.

Car parking available at Nose’s Point.

We have no current information on dog restrictions for Blast Beach.

Why not check other beaches nearby as we have no beaches around Seaham, 14 beaches in Durham, or check our list of Durham Dog Friendly Beaches.
