Fraisthorpe beach is a sandy beach on the East Yorkshire coast and forms part of Bridlington Bay. At this beach, you will have lots of sand as the tide goes out a long way and is great for dog walkers as allowed all year round and lots of space.
You will also be able to spot debris from sea defence and World War II structures on the beach, once they were on the cliffs but due to coastal corrosion are now on the beach and in the sea.
Fraisthorpe is a popular kitesurfing beach as it is quieter than Bridlington beach and the water is shallow a long way out. But, do avoid either side of high tide as you will need to contend with the World War II structures.
It is about a 3-mile walk from Fraisthorpe into Bridlington but do check the tide times as if they come in the coastal path is a lot longer.
Small car park at end of a single track lane that is charged whilst the dog-friendly cafe and toilets are a short walk from the car park and beach.
Fraisthorpe Beach is dog friendly and allows dogs all year.
Water samples are taken at regular intervals during the bathing season and at the end of the season the water quality is classified as: - Excellent: the highest classification meaning the water is cleanest - Good: generally good water quality - Sufficient: meets minimum standards - Poor: You are advised not to swim. The beach will stay open and an action plan should be in place to improve the water quality.
