Winchelsea beach is shingle at high tide and sand at low. Just behind the beach is an area known as “The Ridges”– pebbles and rough land with a straggle of 1930’s bungalows on unmade roads.
Good all-round family beach, swimming is safe and best at high tide and you also have a bird reserve nearby.
Parking on the road, ice cream van if you are lucky.
We have no dog information for Winchelsea beach.
Winchelsea beach, dog restrictions apply to areas.
Water samples are taken at regular intervals during the bathing season and at the end of the season the water quality is classified as:
Excellent: the highest classification meaning the water is cleanest
Good: generally good water quality
Sufficient: meets minimum standards
Poor: You are advised not to swim. The beach will stay open and an action plan should be in place to improve the water quality.
