Craigmillar Castle (Edinburgh)
Craigmillar Castle is a ruined medieval castle in Edinburgh located on a low hill 5 km (3 miles) south-east of the city centre. This castle was originally located a mile outside of Edinburgh’s city walls.
Craigmillar Castle today is one of the best preserved medieval castles in Scotland and at its core is the Tower House with fascinating features and a great view out over Edinburgh.
Mary Queen of Scots famously used the castle as a safe haven in 1566 following an illness after the birth of her son, the future James VI.
