Dalgety Bay Beach
Dalgety Bay is a large wide bay which looks out across the Firth of Forth, although the bay only has a small sandy beach backed by grass areas on the western point. Dalgety Bay is a popular commuter town to Edinburgh.
The bay has a sailing club with its own slipway.
Radioactive material was first detected on a part of the foreshore at Dalgety Bay in 1990. It is thought that the contamination originates from the residue of radium-coated instrument panels from military aircraft incinerated and landfilled in the area at the end of World War II.
It is thus not recommended for bathing because of this historic low-level radioactive contamination. There are local warning signs. and more information is available from Fife Council.
The beach has no facilities other than the sailing club and has limited on road parking.
We have no current information on dog restrictions for Dalgety Bay Beach.
