Botany Bay Beach

Botany Bay is an old-fashioned sandy beach in Broadstairs, Kent, ideal for entertaining the family. This part of the Kent coast boasts the longest stretch of chalk cliffs in Britain, with Botany Bay being Broadstairs’s northernmost of seven bays.

The beach boasts a wide, sandy shore perfect for sunbathing, beach games, and walks. The dramatic white cliffs and chalk stacks that frame Botany Bay are iconic, providing a breathtaking backdrop and numerous photo opportunities.

At low tide, the beach reveals rock pools and exposes areas of the chalk reef, making it an ideal spot for exploring marine life and even fossil hunting. The area is known for its geological interest, with the possibility of finding fossils embedded in the chalk.

When the tide goes out, you can also navigate around chalk stacks to Kingsgate Bay, but be aware that as the tide comes in, the ends of the beaches get cut off so you may have to walk back along the cliff path.

Dogs are not allowed on Botany Bay Beach between 10 am and 6 pm from 1 May to 30 September.

Facilities include toilets, seasonal kiosks (hot and cold food), disabled access, deck chairs, windbreak hire, lifeguards in summer months and parking.
