This has lovely sand and is quite sheltered. Beautiful promenade thanks to the Tern Project with fabulously intricate paving stones. The beach has two accesses, in the middle and at the Midland End – I know, but I am led to believe, and it is quite easy, that the council designed this!
Not a great deal of anything washes up here, the litter tends to be people leaving it after their picnics so it does stay pretty with minimal tractor attention.
Buses near the access points and shops across the road, parking most of the way along, although it is extortionate, and the railway station is only five minutes walk away.
Dogs are not allowed between May and September, so those families with them are patently unwelcome in the summer season as far as the authorities go. Still off season dog walkers have a lot of fun meeting and playing over there and puppies practising walking off the lead are lovely to watch. Fortunately, in this area of Morecambe the poo count/dog count ratio is really good so obviously the great majority of owners are responsible.
Last summer on a hot day I took the whole family there for a tea time picnic when the tide was up. I was blown away to be able to swim in warm, clean water in a safe area with a fabulous sunset over incomparable lake district mountain view.
      Roll on this summer!
Summary, nice, safe, clean, sandy, good sized beach away from traffic.
