    Burghley House Information

    Burghley House was built and mostly designed by William Cecil, Lord High Treasurer to Queen Elizabeth I, between 1555 and 1587 and is a leading example of an Elizabethan prodigy house.

    Its park was laid out by Capability Brown and is well known for the annual Burghley Horse Trials.
