Oxwich Castle is a ruined Tudor mansion which stands on a wooded headland overlooking Oxwich Bay on the Gower Peninsula in South Wales.
Built in the early 16th century by Sir Rice Mansel, and later added to by his son Sir Edward Mansel, Oxwich is an example of the Tudor courtyard style of architecture and includes a long Elizabethan gallery. It fell into disrepair after the Mansel family moved out in the 1630s.
Rescued from demolition in 1949, the castle underwent a period of conservation and reconstruction and is now in the care of Cadw (Welsh Historic Monuments).
Visit Oxwich from April to September for a small entry fee. There is parking available and dogs on lead are welcome, see: cadw.wales.gov.uk
