Long Sands beach in Tynemouth is a stretch of golden sand suitable for bathing, surfing, kayaking or why not just sit back and relax. As the tide goes out a number of rock pools provide excellent family fun.
Facilities include Parking, toilets, cafe, restaurant and shops.
Long Sands Beach is a Blue Flag Beach and has been awarded a regional Seaside Award.
Long Sands does not allow dogs between 1st May to 30th September.
- Excellent: the highest classification meaning the water is cleanest
- Good: generally good water quality
- Sufficient: meets minimum standards
- Poor: You are advised not to swim. The beach will stay open and an action plan should be in place to improve the water quality.
