The Fowey Festival of Arts and Literature is inspired by Daphne du Maurier, the celebrated author who lived in Fowey and wrote about this part of Cornwall in novels like Jamaica Inn and Rebecca.
It runs for nine days in May with events spread across different venues in town.
There are talks by well-known authors, readings, music performances, workshops, and guided walks. You’ll also find an Art Trail featuring artists exhibiting in homes, studios, and galleries throughout the town. The estuary and countryside add to the feel of the festival and often influence themes (walking, nature, artistic heritage).
Young people are also included, with competitions for young writers and artists, as well as school outreach events.
