Mousehole Harbour Lights is an annual Christmas light display held in the small fishing village of Mousehole in Cornwall. The event takes place in the weeks leading up to Christmas, starting on December 11th and finishing on January 3rd.
The Christmas lights were started in 1963 by Mousehole-based artist Joan Gillchrest with a string of coloured bulbs along both quays to make the village a bit brighter at Christmas time. The display has evolved since then and now features illumination of the village’s historic harbour, where thousands of lights are used to create intricate and captivating scenes, figures, and designs.
The entire village gets involved in the event, local shops, galleries, and cafes often stay open late, allowing visitors to enjoy a warm drink and some holiday shopping while taking in the beautiful lights.
Visitors come from far and wide to experience the magical atmosphere of Mousehole Harbour Lights.
