Glamping is the new and fun way to enjoy a luxury holiday and still believe you’re ‘roughing’ it!
The number of ‘glamping’ sites is increasing as intrepid holiday makers reach out to nature and decide to mix luxury with all the joys of camping. It’s perfect for Mom and Dad to enjoy the luxurious side of things while the kids revel in the great outdoors but still have every amenity to hand.
Here are a few of the best Glamping sites we’ve noticed.
1. The Shielings, Craigmure, Isle of Mull
This site has long, very spacious tents with views of Ben Nevis in a very dramatic coastal location with panoramic sea views! What more could you ask for for a coastal camping site in utter luxury?
Get up to watch the seals and dolphins and then hop right back into your bed! There’s a ferry, shop, pub, post office and bistro within easy distance and an easy walk to the swimming pool and Duarts Castle.
These heated tents sleep two and range from £30 per night and £190 per week!
2. Polgreen Glamping, Cornwall
This camp site is within walking distance from the beach and accommodation is all in ‘bell’ tents with lots of extras to help you enjoy your break like a real double bed with proper bedding, colourful bunting, a tea service, heating and rugs!
There’s a central canopy area which is communal with a library, games and honesty bar. The tents sleep four and short breaks start from £228.00!
3. Billycan Camping, Arundel, West Sussex
Billycan is a fun camp site with bell tents, tipis and yurts. There are air beds, deckchairs, cooking equipment and rugs and camp fires are a must for the singing and gathering together of an evening. Situated in 650 acres of farmland, Billycan provides an opportunity to sleep in a fully-fitted canvas bell tent, dine under the night sky, toast marshmallows on the communal camp fire, wake up to stunning views and have a break from the routine of every-day life.
The site is a stone’s throw from the River Arun and within walking distance to the historic town of Arundel, where you can buy anything from a new sleeping bag to organic vegetables, as well as visit The Castle and swim in the Lido.
4. Manorafon Sea Camp, Aberporth, Ceredigion
A bit of a mouthful but it’s gorgeous with Dutch tunnel tents and canopy covered kitchens all set in a valley within an easy walk to the beach at Penbryn. The geodesic domes come with futon, woodburning stove and – wait for it – a bay window to watch the stars from!
Each dome sleeps four adults and pets are allowed. Prices start at £230 for a short break and it’s such fun for all the family.
