Explore Eastbourne (East Sussex) Seaside, Coast and Beaches

Eastbourne is immediately to the east of the chalk sea cliffs of Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters and in between the South Downs countryside and the sea. Unlike a lot of seaside towns Eastbourne has kept it's Victorian feel with a seafront consisting largely of Victorian hotels, pier and bandstand. The beach is a typical Sussex pebble/shingle beach and stretches over 6km (4 miles) from Sovereign Harbour in the east to Beachy Head in the west. As well as the seafront Eastbourne offers a good base and alternative from Brighton for exploring East Sussex including the South Downs and Beachy head. The town has a nice centre with a pedestrianised precinct and a choice of places to eat. A visit must also include a trip to the The Redoubt Fortress and The Pavilion, both ideally located next to one another on Eastbourne seafront.
