Stronsay (Orkney Islands) Seaside, Coast and Beaches

Stronsay is an island in the Orkney islands and is known as the "Island of Bays" due to its irregular shape.

Stronsay is low lying but does have some spectacular red sandstone rock formations including sea stacks and caves. But, you don't just have a rocky coast some of the bays offer fine sandy beaches backed by sand dunes.

The cliffs at Lamb Ness and Lamb Head provide a great landscape and location for birdwatchers.

Stronsay Meal Mill

Stronsay Meal Mill is a privately owned mill located at the foot of Mill Brae on eastern Stronsay, Orkney. The now uninhabited three-storey mill has a wheel and lade and was built in the 19th century. It was powered by water from the stream flowing from the Muckle Water to Mill Bay. Read more…
