Ards Forest Park
Ards forest park is situated on the small Ards Peninsula, on the shores of Sheephaven Bay on the northern coastline of County Donegal.
Ards Forest Park has many features of historical and archaeological interest, the remains of four ringforts and a number of megalithic tombs are to be seen in the park.
Ards Forest Park has signposted forest walks, these include the Ards Heritage Trail, which is around 3.5 km long, the Nature Trail and the Green Trail, which are both approximately 3 km long, and the Red Trail, which is 13 km long, though this walk does give provisions for a shortcut back to the starting point should it be needed. There are various viewing points on the walks and trails with views of the surrounding countryside.

Killahoey beach is a wide sandy beach also known as Dunfanghy beach. The beach is not very sheltered and can provide some great windsurfing and kitesurfing. Facilities include car parking, toilets and seasonal lifeguards.

Horn Head, meaning “Hollow in the Hills”, is a peninsula in Donegal, North West Ireland and forms part of Sheephaven Bay. Horn Head cliffs rise 600 ft/180 m on the ocean side of the peninsula and they are an internationally important colony for breeding seabirds.

Fort Dunree is a coastal defence located on the west side of the Inishowen peninsula. Originally built as a Royal Navy position during the Napoleonic Wars, the fort is located on a rocky promontory accessed over a natural fissure. It was remodelled in 1895 and the top of a hill overlooking the site was walled in to form a redoubt.
