Lugnaquillais a 925 metre (3,035 ft) tall mountain just out side Wicklow. Views, on a clear day, extend east across the Irish Sea to the hills of the Llyn Peninsula and mountains of Snowdonia in Wales, and west to the mountains of Munster.
Lugnaquillais means “hollow of the wood”.

Glendalough Tower is approximately 30 metres high and a round tower built of mica-slate interspersed with granite. The tower originally had six timber floors, connected by ladders with the entrance itself 3.5 metres from the base. The four storeys above the entrance each have a small window, whilst the top florr has four windows facing the cardinal compass points. Read more…
