Port Erin lifeboat started in the 1880’s with a 10-oared self-righting boat. The first station was built in 1884 with a slipway added in 1900. The Port Erin Lifeboat Station you see today was built in 1925 with a slipway thought to be one of the steepest launch slopes. The Port Erin lifeboat station now operates a rigid inshore lifeboat. Cregneash is a small village in the extreme south of the Isle of Man, about one mile from Port Erin. Much of the village forms a Living Museum dedicated to the preservation of the traditional Manx ways of life. Meayll Circle is a chambered cairn on Meayll Hill that is believed to have been built over one thousand years ago. The circle has an 18 ft diameter of 12 burial chambers with six entrance passages leading into each pair of chambers.
