Botallack Mine is part of the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site. At its peak, Botallack produced 14,550 tonnes of tin, 20,000 tonnes of copper ore and 1,500 tonnes of refined arsenic. The mine shafts go out to see and are over 500m deep, which means you will see the engine houses perched on the edge of the cliffs as close to the sea as was possible.
Botallack Count House & Workshop has visitor information and toilets.
This was the filming location in BBC’s Poldark for Wheal Leisure (West Wheal Owles), Grambler (Wheal Crowns) and Wheal Grace along with being on some of the coastal shots.
