About Carbis Bay Beach
Carbis Bay is a sandy beach in St Ives Bay and a resort in its own right. It is known for its safe and calm waters, making it an ideal spot for families. The beach is a lifeguard-patrolled beach during the summer, ensuring a safe environment for swimming and water activities.
The beach is part of a resort and offers facilities. However, there is a small car park, with a cheaper option available at the long-stay car park a little up the road, although it involves a steep, hilly walk. Like most St Ives beaches, it is best to park outside at St Erth station and catch the train in, as Carbis Bay has a stop just behind the beach, or you can walk along the coast path from St Ives.
Carbis Bay Beach has seasonal dog restrictions, prohibiting dogs from May 15 to September 30 between 10 am and 6 pm.
If you want to get away from people and are not bothered about facilities, we love to take the 10-minute walk along the coast path to Porthkidney Sands. This also gives dog owners a bonus as Porthkidney is dog-friendly all year round.
The beach is easily accessible, with a nearby car park and train station. The beach has seasonal lifeguards, toilets, food outlets, and options for renting canoes and SUPs.
The beach’s proximity to St Ives also means that you can easily explore the charming town’s art galleries, shops, and restaurants, making for a well-rounded day trip or holiday destination in Cornwall.
