Great Molunan beach is a small cove with a sandy beach. Popular with boating families as Great Molunan beach overlooks the entrance to Falmouth harbour. Little Molunan beach, the smaller beach to the east is less popular as it is only accessible at low tide or by boat. However, it has a rocky area, which is great for rock pooling.

Porthbeor beach is a large beach of sand and rocks on the Roseland Peninsula. The beach is backed by grass-covered cliffs that can be unstable and care needs to be taken. The beach is quiet in part due to the difficult access and no facilities.

Saint Mawes Castle is among the best-preserved of Henry VIII’s coastal artillery fortresses. The castle was one of the chain of forts built between 1539 and 1545 to counter an invasion threat from Catholic France and Spain, it guarded the important anchorage of Carrick Roads, sharing the task with Pendennis Castle on the other side of the Fal estuary.

The gardens are set on a four-acre hillside that looks out to St Mawes Bay. The garden has a large sub-tropical collection and is laid out in a Mediterranean style with streams, bridges and water features.
