Although you might have “sands” in the resort name you will not find any. Grange-over-Sands was a popular Victorian and Edwardian resort within Morecambe Bay that lies between the mountains and the sea. Ravenglass beach is a mix of sand, shingle and mud within the village of Ravenglass. The village is on the estuary where the Esk, the Mite and the Irt all meet the sea. Parking is available in the village along with a couple of pubs.

Bardsea beach is situated at the seaside village of Bardsea on the Furness Peninsula, standing on the west side of Morecambe Bay. The beach is a shingle beach at high tide but at low tide has a large amount of sand. Car parking besides the beach and the chance of a van selling ice-creams,coffee and tea.
