Skinburness Beach is a shingle beach with wooden groynes which allows dogs throughout the year. Skinburness is a small village and peninsula along the coast from Silloth and boasts a beautiful, unspoilt stretch of coastline.
This is an area of Scientific Interest and forms part of the Solway Coast AONB, making this spot popular for walking and bird watching. At the peninsula’s tip, you have Grune Point, a sand and shingle spit separating the Solway to the west and the salt marsh to the east.
There are no facilities, and it is very hard to find parking. For the keen walkers, we would recommend parking closer to Silloth and then walking along the coast. It is approximately 6km to Grune Point from Silloth, but do add some extra to allow for exploring around Grune Point and the marshes.
