Annan Beach, also known as Newbie Beach, stretches west from Annan along the Solway Firth in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. It’s a wide, flat shingle beach and an important wildlife area.
Dogs are allowed on Annan Beach year-round. There are no designated ban zones or summer blocks, but keeping them near you when around wildlife is wise.
Shops and a couple of small cafes in Annan. Driving is the most convenient option for getting to the beach. From the A75, follow signs into Annan, then head west of the river, and you can find a few free parking spots south of Newbie, although we would recommend Powfoot, where you can then walk eastwards. Buses run from Dumfries to Annan if you’re coming without a car, and from there it’s a steady walk of about twenty minutes to the shore.
For a change of scene, the Annandale Way trail runs nearby. Parts of it cut through woodland and riverside paths, making it ideal for a longer walk.
