North Gare Sands Beach
North Gare Sands is sandy with dunes and some marsh in the mouth of the Tees estuary, close to the site of an Oil Refinery and a Chemical Works.
North Gare forms one part of the Teesmouth National Nature Reserve with the other being Seal Sands.
Parking a short way from the beach but no shops or toilets, signposted nature trails lead from the car park.

Hartlepool North Sands is a sandy beach. As you head Northwards away from Hartlepool you have the Durham Coast and Castle Eden Dene National Nature Reserves which is known for spotting seals and seabirds. In the middle of the beach you have a long working pier that carries pipelines. Car parking is by the marina.

Hartlepool lifeboat station operates two lifeboats. Hartlepool has had a number of lifeboat stations over the years and this now is the only one. No shop but station is open to visitors.

Seaham Lighthouse was erected in 1905 when the nearby Red Acre Point lighthouse was decommissioned. The lighthouse is a black-and-white striped pier-head light with a tower height of 10m and a range of 5 miles.
