The Brighton West Pier opened in 1866. Unfortunately, the West Pier has suffered a series of setbacks, fires, and deterioration over the years, leading to its current state. The West Pier today is a skeletal structure, with many parts missing and its structural integrity severely compromised. It has been designated as a Grade I listed building due to its historical and architectural significance, so there are restrictions on altering or demolishing it.
Despite its decline, the West Pier continues to be a popular subject for photographers and artists, a reminder of the rich history of the Brighton seafront.
Due to the constant battering by the weather and sea, the appearance of the pier is constantly changing and may not reflect the pictures in the gallery.
