Volk’s Electric Railway was opened on the 4th of August 1883 by Magnus Volk, a pioneering electrical engineer. The railway was the first electric railway in the United Kingdom and is the worldโs oldest operating electric railway.
Located right on Brighton Beach, it runs a mile east of the pier (Aquarium Station) towards the marina (black Rock Station) with an intermediate station called Halfway Station. The trip takes about 12 minutes to complete, and you have about a 5-minute walk to get to the marina from the last stop.
The railway is seasonal, and you should check the website for train timetables.
Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a lead.
