The Pier at Clacton-on-Sea was opened on 27 July 1871. The pier was originaly a wooden structure 160 yards (150 m) in length and 4 yards (3.7 m) wide. Walton and Frinton lifeboat station was established in 12884 and operates an all weather lifeboat. This was one of the 19 stations that supported the evacuation of the British Expeditionary Force from Dunkirk. Station only open by appointment. Shop daily mid February to mid December.
