Thorney Bay beach is a small sandy beach on Canvey Island backed by a large grassy area. When the tide is low the beach has some muddy areas. Facilities include car parking, a wheelchair-accessible path to the beach, cafe, children’s play area, grass areas and to one side of the beach you have a caravan park.

Labworth beach is a sandy narrow beach backed by a seawall and some grass areas. The region between Thorney Bay and Labworth beach is designated as an approved windsurfing area. The seafront has a few small shops, cafes with the most significant being the 1930s Labworth café.

Leigh Bell Wharf beach is a small strip of sand alongside Leigh’s renowned cockle sheds. When the tide is out this just becomes a muddy estuary. Facilities include parking, toilets, nearby cafe and restaurants.

Chalkwell Beach is a sandy beach with groynes backed by a grassy area and the beach has a seawater paddling pool. Chalkwell is part of the long Southend-on-Sea seafront, sitting towards the Western end and is less busy than the stretches near the pier. Hadleigh Castle is the ruins of a royal castle overlooking the Essex marshes. Construction was begun in about 1215 by Hubert de Burgh, but extensively refortified by Edward III during the Hundred Years War. Today the castle sits on Hadleigh Farm, the Salvation Army Farm Colony.
