Step Rock Tidal Pool

Step Rock Tidal Pool in St Andrews can’t be accessed as is now part of the Aquarium.

The pool opened in 1902 although a bathing shelter was around in the late 1800s. The pool measured 300ft long by 100ft wide and the depth from 2ft 4ins to 8ft. There was also a small paddling pool.

The pool was also known as Witch Lake after a story that in the 16th, 17th century suspected witches were thrown into the tidal pool.
