Porth Iago Beach

Porth Iago Beach is a beautiful, small, sandy beach hidden away on the Llyn Peninsula with crystal clear waters. The cove faces southwest and sits between the headlands of Graig Ddu and Dinas.

The walks along the coast path are great, and whilst you are here or if the wind direction dictates, it is worth a short walk to the north-facing Porth Ferin Beach, although not as sandy. The beach is dog-friendly, but as access is through a farm, they should be kept on leads until you reach the beach.

Many visitors head to the main town beaches, such as Abersoch, Criccieth, Porthmadog, and Aberdaron, and they can be busy on summer days. However, Porth Iago is lesser known, although more people are discovering its beauty, and it rarely gets as busy.

There are no facilities at Porth Iago, so bring everything with you; parking and access are through a farm with a fee for access and parking. Access is from the coast path, although down a short, steep, sandy path.

The dog-friendly Porth Iago Campsite (Facebook Page) is above the beach – motorhomes and tents if you want to stay.
