Hayling Lifeboat station was started in 1865 and provides 24 hour emergency cover for all the boat owners and crew based in Chichester Harbour.
The station is supported by boat and shore crew as well as volunteers and have qualified as both B and D class helms having followed the RNLIโs competence based training scheme.
They are divided into three watches and the first watch begins at 7am every Tuesday with one week on duty and one week off duty. A tiring and responsible job that saves many lives.
They have three battle boats and the facilities are improving all the time thanks to the generous donations of the community and the fund raising that they do.
