Southampton Royal Pier (aka Victoria Pier)

The Royal Pier at Southampton was opened in July 1833 by the then Princess Victoria as a steamer service pier. The pier was also known as Victoria Pier.

The pier was damaged when a ship hit it during the first world war and has never been restored, and the pier itself is in a sorry state, with only the gatehouse standing.
