Belgian Promenade Beach
Belgian promenade, although not strictly a beach as beyond the wall is mud, this is a great location to get close to Menai straights and see the Menai Suspension bridge at close hand.
In 1914 the locals were helped by a group of refugees from Mechelen in Belgium who had been driven from their homes by the German invasion and had found asylum in Menai Bridge. As a gesture of appreciation for being welcomed to Menai Bridge the refugees constructed the “Belgian Promenade” that extends from Carreg y Halen, close to the Menai Bridge, to the Causeway at Church Island.
Popular fishing location.
