Freshwater West (also known as Fresh West) Beach is near Castlemartin, within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. The beach is a great unspoilt rural beach, approximately 1km across, with rock pools and backed by rolling sand dunes and marshland.
Freshwater West is a popular surfing beach due to its consistent Atlantic swells and strong waves and regularly hosts surfing tournaments.
As this is a remote beach with unspoilt views it is a popular filming location, such as 2010 Robin Hood starring Russell Crowe, Harry Potter films and BBC’s The Sarah Jane Adventures. Probably the most famous is that in Freshwater West sand dunes is the place where Dobby was buried in Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows and as such has become a bit of a pilgrimage for Harry Potter fans,
Car parking is available and you may be lucky and get an ice cream/food van.
