Tucked into the charming seaside town of Tenby, North Beach and Harbour Beach together offer two very different but equally delightful beach experiences.
North Beach is a sweeping stretch of golden sand backed by a promenade and cliff paths. It’s visually dominated by Goskar Rock, a dramatic rock formation in the bay that is an excellent spot for exploring at low tide.
Why You’ll Love It
- Great for sunbathing and swimming: The bay is relatively sheltered, making it ideal for families.
- Rock pools: Around Goskar Rock, especially when the tide is low.
- Facilities nearby: There are cafes, shops, and spots to hire beach equipment right above the beach.
- Lifeguards: On duty in the summer months (typically daily between 10 am and 6 pm).
- Other amenities: Public toilets, a concrete ramp for easier beach access, and beach-wheelchair hire available.
The nearest parking is North Beach Car Park, off Gas Lane (via Narberth Road / A478). If it’s full, you can park elsewhere in Tenby and walk: several town car parks are within walking distance.
Harbour Beach is tucked into Tenby Harbour, a much smaller, more secluded sandy spot.
What Makes It Special
- Picturesque setting: It sits under the old harbour wall, with boats bobbing nearby, very scenic, especially at low tide.
- Great for toddlers / young kids: The small sandy stretch is ideal for gentle paddling.
- Historical charm: Nearby is St Julian’s Chapel, a little seamen’s chapel built in the 19th century.
- Boating opportunities: From the harbour, you can take boat trips to Caldey Island or hire small boats.
Dogs are banned from both North and Harbour Beaches from 1st May to 30th September, except for guide dogs.
Nearby Things to Do

- Boat trip to Caldey Island: Just off the harbour.
- Visit St Julian’s Chapel: Quiet and charming, tucked by Harbour Beach.
- Walk the cliffs: There are scenic paths around North Beach and up above the cliffs for great views.
