Elie Ruby Bay Beach Info

Ruby Bay is a sandy beach in a sheltered bay to the east of the village of Elie that is backed by dunes and grass areas. The beach is also referred to as Wood Haven.

The beach is known for “Elie rubies”, blood-red pyrope garnets embedded in the volcanic rock along the shoreline. On a sunny day, you can lie down along the high tide line and you should see the rubies glinting in the sunlight.

Facilities include toilets with disabled access, picnic area, parking, although more is available in the town and cafes/restaurant nearby.
