Beach Holidays in the Channel Islands

Have you thought about the Channel Islands this Summer?

The Channel Islands just off the coast of England are often overlooked by Europeans as a holiday destination and yet they boast superb beaches, fine cuisine and really good accommodation and activities for all the family.

The islands are Guernsey, Jersey, Alderney, Sark and Herm with the main towns in the Channel Islands are St Helier, St Peter Port and St Anne and the climate is temperate and warm and dry in the Summer.

There are great beaches on the Channel Islands and here are a few that we’d recommend:

1.  St Brelades Bay Beach

St Brelade beach, Saint Brelade, Jersey, Channel Islands

St Brelades Bay is on Jersey and is great for safe swimming and a sheltered beach with lifeguard cover from May to September.  This beach is clean and has many amenities like cafes, car parks, bars and loos! There’s no admission fee.

This is a busy beach with a little jetty at the end.  Sunshine bathes the beachgoers all day long and there is soft golden sand to walk on.

2.  Petit Bot Bay, Guernsey

Petit Bot is a glorious sandy bay that is surrounded by high cliffs that provide good shelter from winds.

With a dramatic waterfall, Petit Bot has pebbles at the top and sand further down and has a relaxing atmosphere. There is a coffee shop at the bottom of the hill that serves hot and cold snacks, plus toilets.

3.  Moulin Huet Bay, Guernsey

The famous Moulin Huet Bay features a stunning beach which was a favourite of the artist Renoir and led him to paint a series of landscapes of Moulin Huet in the mid-1880s.

Moulin Huet is a rugged bay, with beautiful sand lower down and this is best enjoyed at half tide and below, as the sea covers the best part when it’s in. There is a cafe with an enchanting garden just above the beach and there are toilets in the car park further up.

4.  Corblets Beach, Alderney

Corblets beach, Alderney, Guernsey, Channel Islands

Corblets Beach is very popular as it has great tidal pools and stunning rock formations on the sand itself.  Surfers use the beach in a high swell and there are plenty of pools to explore and great walks.

There’s no lifeguard and dogs are not allowed from May to September.
