The Knock Shrine is a Roman Catholic pilgrimage site and National Shrine where observers stated that there was an apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint Joseph, Saint John the Evangelist, angels, and Jesus Christ (the Lamb of God) in 1879.

The Murrisk Augustinian Friary was founded on lands granted by Thady O’Malley in 1457 and the Friary is built on the site reputed to be that of the original church founded by St. Patrick.
